Deleting your Whistle account
Whistle is a referee match reporting app for youth soccer leagues. If you have a referee account, you can delete it yourself, from inside any of the apps or from the web app. You do not need to email anybody and nobody has to approve it.
How to delete your account
- Web: open whistle.nipomosoccer.com, sign in, go to Account, then Delete my account.
- iPhone or iPad: open Whistle, tap More, then Delete account under Account.
- Android: open Whistle, tap the account icon in the top bar, then Delete account.
On every one of them you are shown what is removed and what is kept, and asked to confirm before anything happens. Apple Watch and Wear OS have no sign in of their own: they borrow a credential from the paired phone, so deleting your account on the phone ends it there too.
What is deleted
- Your sign in. That is the Apple or Google account link that let you into Whistle. It is removed from Firebase Authentication and you cannot sign in to that account again.
- Your email address and phone number, wherever the league held them for you.
- Your membership of the club, and the permissions that came with it. Nothing new can ever be recorded under your name after this.
What is kept, and why
The games you have already worked keep your name on them. Every match, every goal, every card, every clock record, every per-period duration and every result you signed stays exactly as it was recorded, and each of those matches still shows you as the referee who officiated it.
That is the league's record of who ran a game. Removing it would change results other people rely on, break the standings those results feed, and erase the accountability record that exists so a club can answer who was in charge of a match. It is a shared record rather than a personal one, so it is not deleted with your account.
What remains is a name against past fixtures. Your contact details, your sign in and your ability to use the app are gone.
About children
Whistle holds no player records of any kind: no names, no birthdates, no guardian contacts, no photos and no rosters. Teams have names; players do not exist as records. Deleting your account therefore has nothing to remove on that side, because there was never anything there.
How long it takes
Immediately. The deletion happens while you wait and the app tells you when it is done. There is no cooling off period and no way to undo it. Backups taken before the deletion are retained for up to 30 days as part of ordinary disaster recovery and are then overwritten.
One technical exception, for up to 24 hours. Our service keeps a short-lived copy of its recent replies so that a request sent twice — by an app retrying on a bad connection, which happens constantly on a touchline — does not create a second record. If an organizer added you to a league or approved you within the previous 24 hours, that stored reply can still contain the email address and phone number you had at the time. Nobody can reach it through the app, it is never used to rebuild your account, and it is discarded automatically within a day.
Signing in again later creates a brand new, empty account. It does not restore the old one.
If you cannot sign in
If you have lost access to the Apple or Google account you signed in with, and so cannot reach the delete button, write to admin@nipomosoccer.com from any address and say which club and which name to look for. We will verify it with the club and do it for you.
